Bolangir: A video, which went viral on social media, helped identify a septuagenarian woman, who was rescued near a canal in an unconscious condition and admitted to Bolangir Medical College and Hospital.
Sendari Sahu (70) of Durchauper village near Saintala in Bolangir district was missing for the past four months.
The woman’s family members, who saw the viral video, went to the hospital, met Sendari and thanked the people who rescued her.
According to reports, some locals spotted Sendari lying near a canal at Satyanarayanpara-Sambalpur road check gate in an unconscious condition October 19.
On being informed, Ashim Bhoi, coach of Bolangir Karate Academy, who was out for a morning walk with his friend Debendra Pradhan, reached the spot, rescued the woman and took her to a hospital in an auto-rickshaw.
However, they couldn’t establish the woman’s identity as she was unconscious.
Finding no other option, they took a video of the woman and shared it on social media. They even paid Sendari’s medical bills.
After watching the video, some youths of Saintala who identified Sendari, informed her nephew Anand Sahu.
Anand visited the hospital and met Sendari October 20.
According to reports, Sendari who is mentally-challenged, had left her house four months ago. Her family members had lodged a missing complaint with Saintala police.
Sendari, who has no children, lived alone at her house after the death of her husband, reports said.
