Bhubaneswar: Governor SC Jamir, who inaugurated the third edition of the Odisha Art and Literature Festival at IDCOL Auditorium here Thursday, presented the Jaydev National Poetry award to Hindipoet Vishnu Khare for his book Aur Anya Kavitayen. Khare received a cash prize of Rs 51,000 and a trophy resembling the image of Goddess Saraswati on the first day of the three-day festival. Several litterateurs of national and international fame are participating in the poetry recital and discussions on various literary issues, being organised at the festival. Known authors Helmuth Niederle, Mustafa Stitou, Sonia Solarte Orejuela, Cornelia Trasvnicek, Kira Wuck and Harald Kollegger are participating in the session. Delivering the inaugural speech, Jamir said Oriya literature is rich with wonderful creations of gifted litterateurs and it has laid emphasis on contemporary thought content and is comparable to any literature in the world. “Literature is the reflection of the world as seen through the
eyes of the artist or writer,’’ he remarked.
The world needs creative thinkers in all disciplines to tackle complex challenges and provide innovative solutions, Jamir said. The Governor also released books authored by Satyanarayana Mohanty, BN Patnaik, Amit Chaudhuri, Ananya S Guha, Sarita Jenamani, Snehaprava Das, Ashwani Kumar, Sarabjeet Garcha, Shashikant Mishra and Malay Mishra.
Organised by Dhauli Review Trust In collaboration with the North Eastern Council, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Council, Government of India, the festival will also have innovative literary sessions with writers and artists from the North East, including singers Moa and Arenla Subong and authors YD Thongchi, Anubhav Tulsi, Chandrakant Murasingh, Kabita Lama, Nilim Kumar, N Munish Singh, Ananya S Guha, P Lalawmsangi and others. The first day’s sessions deliberated upon gender sensitivity in literarture, impact of literature on Indian cinema, life and literature of the North-East among other things
