Nayagarh: A 36-year-old widow, Jayanti Behera, was allegedly murdered Sunday night in Bhapur, within the jurisdiction of the Bhapur beat house under Fatehgarh police station limits in Nayagarh district, after her throat was reportedly slit inside her home in front of her son and daughter.
Acting on a complaint, Fatehgarh police arrested two suspects — Manoj Kumar Sahu, a cousin of the victim’s late husband from Baideshwar police station area in Cuttack district, and Manoj’s friend, Raja.
A case (260/25) has been registered and an investigation is under way. Although there were rumours that the murder was linked to an extramarital affair, police said no such allegation had been formally made.
