Soro: In a bizarre incident, a woman was rendered critical after her right ear was chopped off by her cousin sister at Bagada village in Kesharipur panchayat under Soro block of Balasore district Monday.
The victim was identified as Priyanka Mallick, while the accused woman was identified as Prabhati Mallick.
According to sources, the two sisters broke out in a fight over some family issue. Things took an ugly turn after Prabhati was infuriated and attacked Priyanka with a sharp-edged weapon.
Priyanka sustained several injuries on her body and her right ear was completely chopped off in the attack.
She was initially rushed to Soro hospital and after primary treatment referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated by Soro police.
