Rourkela: Acting on a tip-off, the Plant Site police Tuesday morning arrested a woman drug peddler. The police seized Rs 1.66 lakh and brown sugar worth Rs 2 lakh from her. Efforts were on to apprehend six others involved in the drug peddling, police said.
The woman was identified as Narisa Khatun.

A Special Squad of the Plant Site Police, under the direction of the SP, conducted a raid in Minapada area of the Steel City and arrested the woman. Around 20 grams of brown sugar was recovered from her possession.
The woman was running the brown sugar racket in the area after importing the contraband from Kharagpur in West Bengal.
“We had an input that the woman was selling brown sugar in Minapada slum of the city. We formed a special team and raided the area and arrested her. We also seized brown sugar weighing around 20 grams and cash Rs 1.66 lakh she had collected after selling the contraband. She has been forwarded to the court. Efforts are on to nab six other accused whom the woman named as associates during her interrogation,” informed Rourkela DSP Pradyumna Kumar Mishra.
