Rourkela: In a boost to anti-Maoist operations, a woman Maoist cadre active in the Saranda forest surrendered before Rourkela police Monday.
The surrendered cadre, a Group B member of the Anmol team, laid down arms in the presence of Western Range DIG Brijesh Rai and the Rourkela SP at the police headquarters.
She was welcomed by officers with flowers and a shawl. The DIG said she would be provided all benefits under the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy.
According to officials, a total of 77 Maoists have surrendered before Odisha Police, while 23 others from the state have surrendered before Chhattisgarh Police.
