Lucknow: In a bizarre incident, two women left their husbands and married each other in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh, officials said.
One of the women is 26 years old. The another is 21 year old, who is a mother of a child. The marriage was however not registered. Even as the Supreme Court has decriminalized gay sex but the law doesn’t allow same-sex marriage.
According to sources, Abhilasha Koudhar was in a love relationship with her friend Dipsikha. Before marriage, the two were in a same sex relationship.
However, under the pressure of their parents, the two were married off. While Dipsikha is a mother of a child, Abhilasha also left her husband.
The two ditched their husbands and decided to marry each other. They went to the local registrar office for marriage. However, the court rejected their marriage.
The incident has become the talk of the town.
