Koraput: The written examination for recruitment to 125 Home Guard posts in Koraput district, scheduled to be held August 31 at DAV College, Koraput, has been postponed indefinitely due to adverse weather conditions. In an official press release issued around 7pm Thursday, Rohit Verma, IPS, Superintendent of Police (SP), Koraput, announced the decision.
He cited continuous heavy rainfall, caused by a low-pressure system over the region, as the key reason. The downpour has severely affected normal life in several parts of the district, making it challenging to examine in a safe and orderly manner. Authorities emphasised that the safety and convenience of candidates remain their top priority.
The exam was expected to draw participation from hundreds of aspirants across the district who had applied for the vacancies. Candidates have been advised to stay updated through official announcements regarding the rescheduled date. SP Verma assured that new dates will be declared only after weather conditions improve and proper arrangements are ensured. The indefinite postponement has left many candidates disappointed, as they had been preparing rigorously for the test. Some expressed concern over the uncertainty, while others welcomed the decision, acknowledging that safety must come first during such conditions.
