post news network, Bhubaneswar, April 12: Citizens of the city and the state government are now all set to celebrate the 67th foundation day of the city. Many government departments are planning to make the historic day more eventful and bigger. A plethora of programmes has been scheduled from Monday. The celebrations will go on till Wednesday. The events will commemorate the contributions made by the people of the state to make the city what it is today.
The state government has planned to start the celebrations from Monday with a ceremonial civilian parade, which will be followed by the prize distribution ceremony and presentation of Rajdhani Gouraba Samman-2015. This year 13 personalities will be conferred the award for their outstanding contribution to the development of the city in this coastal belt of the country.
A photo exhibition at Soochna Bhavan is also planned. It will help the people in getting acquainted with the rich and vivid history of the city and the state. Many cultural programmes will also be organised at various educational institutions in order to impart the younger generation with knowledge of the historical heritage of the city. Many schools are looking forward to organising some cultural programmes too in order to pay tribute to the people who paved the way for the glorious foundation of this city.
The department of culture has made arrangements for a musical programme by music director Basudev Rath and his team Monday. Eminent music director Prasant Padhi and Guru Gajendra Panda and their teams will enthral the audience Tuesday. On the concluding day of the celebrations, Wednesday, the state culture department has planned musical programmes by music director Subhash Das, Mamata Satpathy and Roma Das Mohapatra among others.
Meanwhile netizens too have jumped onto the bandwagon to celebrate the day in their own way. Social networking sites like Facebook and the micro blogging site Twitter are now bombarded with messages and posts relating to the foundation day. Many people belonging to Bhubaneswar and residing in several parts of the globe are now posting their views and congratulatory messages on these sites to celebrate the day in their own way.
