Sorada: In a gruesome incident, a youth was brutally killed in broad day light by a group of miscreants at Badgad Chhak under Sorada block in Ganjam district Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sania Bisoyi of Gangpur village under Badgad police limits. Based on a complaint lodged by Bisoyi’s elder brother, police registered a murder case and launched a probe. The body was seized and sent for post-mortem.
According to sources, Bisoyi’s elder brother was supposed to tie the knot Friday evening. Family members were busy for the marriage feast when Bisoyi left home to bring some decorative items from a nearby market.
Before he could understand anything, five miscreants armed with swords, Mausers and other sharp-edged weapons pounced on him. Though Bisoyi tried to run from the scene to save life, the miscreants followed and assaulted him repeatedly.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and rescued Bisoyi while the miscreants fled the scene. Police first admitted him to Badgad community health centre (CHC) and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MKCG) in Berhampur as his condition worsened. However, he succumbed to the injuries on the way to the hospital.
Police seized a cartridge from the spot. Preliminary investigation revealed the murder was a fallout of previous enmity while no one was arrested till filing of this report.
