Niali: In yet another incident of sheep killing at Niali, the mysterious killer creature has claimed lives of five sheep and injured five others, in the wee hours of Saturday.
Reportedly, the unknown creature entered the shed of one, Parmananda Sethi of Dahijanga under Bilasuni panchayat and attacked the sheep. While two sheep died, two were critically injured in the attack.
Villagers said, the mysterious predator also entered the shed of Dukhi Shyam Bhoi of the village that night and injured one of his sheep. Similarly, one sheep of Pramod Swain, also succumbed after sustaining injuries in the attack.
The creatures also entered the shed of another resident of the village Surendra Das, and killed two sheep injuring two.
On being informed, forest department officials reached the spot and treated the injured sheep. The dead sheep have been sent for post–mortem, said a source.
Notably, the killing spree of sheep by mysterious creatures was first reported in June this year. In two months time, over 250 sheep have been thus killed in the Niali region.
Efforts by the state government officials, and that of an experts’ team from Simlipal National Park and Dehradun to trap the elusive killer, so far have not been fruitful.
