Khurda: Close to 10 migrant workers were injured when the bus they were travelling in crashed into the back of a truck on NH-16 near Pitapalli village in Khurda district in the wee hours of Friday.
The injured persons were immediately rescued and rushed to Khurda district headquarters hospital (DHH). They are undergoing treatment there, but their identities are yet to be ascertained.
According to a source, the driver was trying to overtake a truck near Pitapalli village. However, due to some reasons the driver failed to negotiate the bus properly and it hit the rear end of the truck.
After getting information, police and fire personnel reached the spot and carried out the rescue operation with the help of local people
The police have seized both the vehicles and are investigating into the incident. Eyewitnesses however, said that it was the bus driver at fault which led to the accident.
