Angul: In two separate incidents, police have detained a youth in Chhendipada area after he allegedly molested a minor girl while another person has been arrested in Puri district over an alleged attempt to rape a Class V girl.
Police arrested Kartik Sahu of Singhipania village for alleged misbehaviour and attempt to kill a Standard V student inside a school premises at Jogeswarpur village in Puri district. “Kartik attempted to rape the minor girl after dragging her from the school. He also tried to kill the girl when she raised an alarm,” a complaint to police stated.
The girl was rescued by some locals who heard her screams for help.
In the second incident, residents of Behera Sahi near Chhendipada in Angul district caught hold of a youth and thrashed him after he allegedly molested a minor girl. As per a complaint filed by the family members of the minor girl Friday , the youth manhandled her on Monday while she was taking bath. After other women present at the spot raised an alarm, the youth fled the spot. He was later nabbed by villagers.
