Borigumma/Kosagumuda: Two men died and two others sustained critical burn injuries after they were struck by lightning while working in their farmlands in undivided Koraput district Monday evening.
The deceased were identified as Uddhab Amnatya (35) and Dambaru Amanatya (22) of Uperparli village under Bamra panchayat in Borigumma block.
Both were working in their paddy field when rain lashed the area. They were hit by thunderbolt and died on the spot. Alerted, Kotpad MLA Chandrasekhar Majhi, Borigumma IIC Sudam Sahoo and Tehsildar Pranab Ranjan Behera reached the spot. Police seized the bodies and sent them to the hospital.
On the other hand, a couple Dubar Amanatya and his wife Parvati of Chunchunda village under Kosagumuda block also suffered injuries after struck by lightning. The incident took place when the two were working in their farmland.
The family members rushed the two to Kosagumuda community health centre.
