Banarpal: Two persons including a youth and his minor brother-in-law were killed and four of their kin sustained critical injuries after a speeding truck hit their jeep at Joragadia Square on National Highway-55 under Banarpal police limits in Angul district Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Sridhar Nayak (25) and his brother-in-law Dilu Nayak (8).
The injured were Neuli Nayak (51), Smruti Nayak (13) and Silu Nayak (11). The jeep carrying the victims was damaged. The mishap disrupted traffic on the highway. Traffic resumed after an hour as police removed the two mangled vehicles.
All the injured were rushed to the district headquarters hospital where Sridhar and Dilu succumbed to their injuries.
The mishap occurred when Sridhar of Similipatna under Motanga police limits in Dhenkanal district was travelling with his in-laws to Kumushree under Parjang police limits.
