Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, two minor boys were electrocuted Friday after coming in contact with a live wire atop a tree at Undrukonda village under Kalimela police limits in Malkangiri district. The deceased have been identified as Chandan Padiami (7), son of Dula Padiami, and Mana Madhi (11), son of Lasa Madhi, both from Rodaguda village.
According to reports, the two friends had climbed a tree to pick Kusum berries when they accidentally came in contact with an 11 KV electric wire. The electric shock caused them to fall down from the tree, leading to their untimely demise. The boys had reportedly gone to the Undurukonda weekly market along with their friends, and from there, they entered a nearby jungle to collect berries. After the incident, their friends informed the family members, who rushed to the spot and rushed them to a hospital in Kalimela.
However, both the boys were declared dead by doctors. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and handed over the bodies to their families after post-mortem. A pall of gloom descended on the village after the news spread.
