Kendrapara: In a tragic incident, two minor brothers died after they were bitten by a poisonous snake at Bandhapada village under Pattamundai tehsil in this district late Thursday night.
The deceased have been identified as Papi (12) and Tapi (7), sons of Prabhakar Sahu.
As usual, the family went to bed after dinner Thursday night. Meanwhile, a poisonous snake slithered into the house and bit the two brothers in early hours in their sleep.
Family members woke up to their screams and rushed the duo to Kendrapara district headquarters hospital (DHH).
After preliminary treatment, they were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where the two died while undergoing treatment, sources said.
The deceased were of age 13 and 7 years. A pall of gloom descended in the village following the death of the two brothers.
