Sundergarh: Police Monday detained 25 inhabitants of Baneilata village near Hatibari in this district on a charge of “ransacking” a police vehicle and holding seven cops hostage while a police party went there to make an arrest.
Acting on a warrant issued by a local court, the police team went to the village. Protesting the arrest, the villagers allegedly “detained” seven cops for three hours and also damaged their vehicle.
A stronger team of cops rushed to the spot and rescued the cops. The cops detained 25 villagers in this connection.
