Raisuan: People in Gurudisahi of Baradapal panchayat under Keonjhar block have been leading a miserable life in the absence of basic facilities. It is alleged that all government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Indira Awas Yojana, Mo Kudia Yojana, food security, social security programmes are out of bounds of residents due to sheer apathy of the administration.
Over 300 people live in the village, but none of them has been provided any housing units under PMAY and Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana amid allegations that people in other parts of the district have grabbed housing units using fraudulent means.
The dilapidated shanties, some covered with tattered polythene sheets, and cracks in the walls stand testimony to the miserable condition of these poor residents. In some cases, these houses are too small to accommodate their families comfortably. In rainy season, their plight is multiplied when rain water drips through roof leakages and turn the mud floor completely wet.
It is alleged that the administration has failed to take note of their year-long miseries and deprivation. Lack of safe drinking water is another problem. A tube well has been set up in the village, but its water is not potable, locals said.
Sarpanch Sujata Nayak said that the BDO was apprised of their basic problems and the media had highlighted the miseries of the residents.
The BDO had then assured that all residents would be provided with housing units, but the administration has forgotten its promise, locals lamented.
