Bhawanipatna: An elderly man was electrocuted after coming in contact with a live electric wire at Bhelagaon village under Kalampur block in Kalahandi district Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Durjan Rana (65) of the village.
According to sources, Durjan was cutting bushes near his house when he accidentally came in contact with an electric wire and was electrocuted.
Tension erupted in the area after his family members and villagers staged a road blockade on Kalampur-Mandal road demanding compensation.
The agitation was withdrawn after Jaipatna police and local tehsildar pacified the mob after providing Rs 10,000 to the kin of the deceased and assuring them another Rs 10,000 from the energy department.
