Bhubaneswar, Feb 23: The Class-X examinations which started Monday saw 70,876 students appearing on the first day in Bhubaneswar zone (Khurda, Puri and Nayagarh districts).
The examinations are being held amidst foolproof security measures aimed at preventing question paper leaks.
“Adequate security measures and squads have been put in place from a much earlier date to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination. The first day passed without incident as we haven’t received any complaints from any of our examination or nodal centres,” said a senior official of the zonal office of the Board of Secondary Education here.
The Board has formed a total of 314 examination centres divided into 119 hubs in Puri, 122 in Khurda and 73 in Nayagarh districts, while 29 nodal centres have been created with 12, 11 and six respectively in the three districts. The exam was held both for regular as well as ex-regular students.
About 9,700 students appeared in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation region in about 27 examination centres, officials said. “There have been no problems with the transportation of question and answer papers to and from the nodal centres. But this is just the beginning and we have a long arduous task cut out for us in the coming days,” the official said requesting anonymity.
