Daringbadi/Brahmanigaon: At least 80 villages from Kandhamal and Gajapati districts have been facing difficulties without electricity due to a defunct transformer here.
The only 1.6 KV power transformer for these villages has been lying defunct. The local residents complained that the Southco has not yet taken any steps to repair or replace the transformer.
Besides, the prevailing rain has compounded the difficulties of villagers.
Katingia, Gadapur, Saramuli, Kumbharigaon, Tajungia, Hatimunda villages in Kandhamal district and Katamaha, Paniganda in Gajapati district are the worst affected, reports said.
Mohana Southco assistant engineer KCH Reddy said a new transformer would soon be installed in the area.
