Bhubaneswar: IIT computer science student K Manikanta Varma (B.Tech) has recently won first prize in the national competition of StockMIND Season 6 organised by ICICI Securities in graduate category. The contest was to test college students’ analytical, decision-making and quick thinking skills.
Varma who competed with 2,61,809 students from 697 management, science and technology colleges, received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a two-way ticket to Thailand for two persons in Mumbai May 25.
StockMIND aims to impart skills and training for students interested in careers in equity markets.
Talking about his award, Varma said, ”I participated in this contest to gain knowledge in stock markets which I was curious about.”
ICICI Securities is a great platform for students to learn about finance and investments, he claimed. “My skills improved and it gave me a real time scenario with virtual investment. In future, I like to pursue my interest in the financial world,” he adds.
