Nimapara: The authorities of Nimapara Notified Area Council (NAC) have decided to set up two solid waste treatment plants to improve garbage disposal system in the locality.
As per the decision, the NAC authorities will establish the waste treatment plants near Patapur and Talaandia Squares with an expenditure of around Rs 1 crore, sources said.
According to sources, the NAC will collect garbage from the households and send it to the waste treatment plants. “We will treat the garbage and prepare compost from it. The compost will be sold to the farmers,” said Nimapara tehsildar and NAC executive officer (in-charge) Kamaljeet Das.
According to Das, the initiative would ensure cleanliness in Namapara as well as boost revenue of the civic body. “We have started collecting garbage from some households under the NAC on experimental basis. A survey has also been launched for successful execution of the garbage disposal plan. Stern action will be taken against people who are dumping waste materials here and there,” Das said.
Meanwhile, the NAC authorities have appointed 11 ward officers for Nimapara. NAC sources said Banamali Barik, Rakesh Kumar Rout, Siprarani Sahu, Rabindranath Sahu, Rajkishore Pradhan, Yoshabant Sahu, Sujata Mahapatra, Rabinarayan Mohanty, Bijay Kumar Patra, Girishchandra Swain and Bulu Sethi have been appointed as the ward officers.
“The ward officers would visit their respective wards from 10 am to 12 noon everyday to take stock of civic issues. We are trying our best to improve garbage disposal system in Nimapara. We request people cooperate the civic authorities on the issue,” Das said.
