Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 3,108 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 3,61,450. This is the first time in 2021 that more than 3,000 new cases have been reported. The current active caseload in the state stands at 16,889. Out of the 3,108 new infections, 1,806 were reported from quarantine centres while 1,302 persons contracted the virus locally.
Khurda district has registered the highest number of new infections with 534 persons testing positive for the disease. It is followed by Sundargarh with 523 new cases.
A total of 95,28,182 swab samples have been cumulatively tested in the state so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 837.

Other districts that have reported new COVID-19 cases are: Cuttack (163), Nabarangpur (156), Sambalpur (153), Balasore (151), Nuapada (140), Bolangir (133), Bargarh (132), Keonjhar (105), Jharsuguda (89), Jajpur (75), Mayurbhanj (71), Ganjam and Kalahandi (55 each), Bhadrak (53), Angul (44), Subarnapur (42), Rayagada (38), Jagatsinghpur (29), Koraput (23) Kendrapara (22), Deogarh (19), Gajapati (18), Shenkanal (16), Kandhamal (10), Boudh (nine) and Malkangiri (three).
The State Pool reported 118 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside the state and have tested positive.
