Bhubaneswar: The state government Friday directed the collectors of flood affected districts to submit their assessment reports by Monday.
Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan informed this to the reporters after presiding over a review meeting on the flood affected districts at the Secretariat here Friday afternoon.
“Collectors have been asked to submit damage assessment report by Monday. They have been informed of the rules of the Union government in this regard,” Balakrishnan said.
Torrential rain July 15 had triggered flash floods in Rayagada, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur districts while the Cuttack city was waterlogged following which 260 pump sets were drafted to flush out water from low-lying areas.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who had reviewed the flood situation in these districts, had asked collectors of Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Cuttack to submit preliminary damage assessment reports within seven days.
The Special Relief Commissioner’s (SRC) report suggests that 70 villages under Rayagada and Kalaynsinghpur blocks in Rayagada district were badly hit due to the flashflood in which 28,000 people were affected. About 136 villages of seven blocks in Kalahandi were severely hit by the flood leaving 45,000 people marooned. In Nabarangpur, 70,500 people 283 villages in 10 blocks were affected due to the flood.
Meanwhile, ODRAF, NDRF, Fire Services and CRPF teams which were deployed for rescue operation have been demobilised. People evacuated to relief camps in Kalahandi and Nabarangpur have returned to their home and the relief camps have been closed.
