Bhubaneswar: In an act of humanity as a response to the recent flood situation in Balasore and nearby districts, Humane World for Animals India, in partnership with Yuva Vikas Foundation, distributed over 36,000 kg of emergency feed, reaching around 12,000 animals in the worst-hit blocks of Baliapal and Bhograi.
The flooding, caused by heavy rainfall and water discharge from Jharkhand, has devastated fodder sources, leaving animals vulnerable to malnutrition, disease and overcrowded shelters.
Field reports noted a rise in diarrhoea, skin infections, and pox among animals due to unsanitary conditions.

Humane World senior coordinator of the disaster management team Jaihari AK emphasised the urgency and said, “With three times the flood in two weeks, animals had no access to clean feed or shelter.
Our intervention is bridging a critical survival gap for both animals and dependent communities.
