Patrapur: Vigilance sleuths Tuesday arrested a block accounts manager (BAM) on charge of demanding Rs 3,500 from a vehicle owner here in Ganjam district.
He was identified as Jagannath Pani.
According to sources, Khiramani Nayak, a villager, had put his vehicle on a rent basis at Patrapur community health centre (CHC). He approached Pani for his outstanding of Rs 20,291 towards rent of his vehicle.
However, Pani demanded Rs 3,500 to release the dues. Later, Nayak approached the vigilance officials and narrated his ordeal after which a plan was hatched to arrest Pani red-handed.
As per the plan, Nayak took the chemical-laced notes of Rs 3,5000 and handed it over to Pani. Meanwhile, vigilance officials conducted a raid and made the seizure.
Simultaneous raids were on at the residence, office and ancestral house of Pani.
