Bhubaneswar: Twenty-five young Adivasi girls took part in the Adi Rani 2018 semi-finals held at KIIT campus in Bhubaneswar, Thursday. Organised by Utkal Gourav, the event witnessed a large gathering, which thoroughly enjoyed the contest among indigenous beauties.
Minister for Handloom and Textile Snehangini Chhuria graced the occasion as guest of honour. In her address, Snehangini said, “It’s a great pleasure to witness such an event. Kalinga Gourav is really helping tribals to represent themselves in the national and international arenas”.
A panel comprising four jury members judged the participants based on their personality, singing and dancing abilities as well as on their general knowledge. Interacting with Orissa Post, eminent film director Sabyasachi Mohapatra said, “This competition called is definitely different from others. The tribal girls are very smart and I am really surprised to find them so talented and performing so well”.
Chidatmika Khatua, a member of Kalinga Gourav, said, “It’s time to showcase the true talents of our tribal girls. Besides the government, other organisations should also try and help them to enhance their presence in the society”.
The results from the semi-final will be announced June 24, when the finale of the competition will be held at Utkal Mandap.
