Keonjhar: An unidentified woman was left battling for death just 100metre away from the district collectorate here, due to starvation Saturday.
The matter came to fore after locals spotted her in an unconscious state near an Anganwadi centre besides the local Harihara Temple of Dhobadiha area in Keonjhar town.
Though the woman was found in a helpless state near a crowded place, no one has offered to help her so far. Interestingly, the administration officials still remained unaware of the plight of the woman, though she is lying in the area for the past few days, reports added.
Being left without food for a prolonged period of time, the woman is infected with wounds and has grown fragile.
It was noticed that swarm of flies and insects surrounded on her wounds that further deteriorated her health condition.
Locals took pity on the elderly woman and demanded the administration to rescue the woman and provide her with immediate treatment before she succumbs due to the starvation.
