Bhubaneswar: The Khurda District Committee of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Saturday staged a demonstration in Bhubaneswar protesting the implementation of the four new Labour Codes, which they termed anti-worker.
As part of the agitation, protesters raised slogans and burned copies of the Gazette notification at the demonstration site. The protest was attended by AITUC state vice president Prasanta Mishra, state secretary Jayanta Das, Namita Sahu, and other leaders.
Members from various affiliated organisations also participated in the demonstration. A large procession was taken out from Bhagabati Bhawan to Rajmahal Square, with protesters raising slogans against the Labour Codes and demanding their immediate withdrawal.
AITUC leaders described the agitation as a spontaneous uprising of the working class against what they termed an attack by the BJP-led Central government. The Labour Codes came into effect November 21, 2025, which trade unions observed as Black Day nationwide. Saturday’s demonstration was part of a nationwide protest called by the United Platform of Central Trade Unions and several independent federations.
