Another ‘Paree’ raped in Balasore, accused arrested

Balasore: Despite the ongoing ‘Paree Pain Katha Tiye’ campaign by the Odisha police against child sexual abuse, there is no stopping to incidents of misbehaviour with girls in the state.

A fourteen-year-old girl was allegedly raped at Anantpur near the Soro police limits in this district by a married man in the neighbourhood Tuesday evening. The police arrested Prakash Jena after her parents lodged a complaint.

The girl was living with her maternal grandparents to pursue her studies.  Tuesday evening, when the girl went out to attend a nature’s call, she was dragged to an isolated spot and allegedly raped.

At 7pm, the grandparents started a search for her. The girl returned after an hour and related her ordeal to them. She also informed them that the accused threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to anyone.

Her parents, living in Adia village under the same block, immediately reached the place and lodged a complaint with the Soro police. The police arrested the accused and started investigation.

Odisha Police’s 15-day awareness campaign on child sexual abuse ‘Paree Pain Katha Tiye’ is currently under way in all the 30 districts of the state in view of the rising menace.
