Tangi: An auto-rickshaw driver was hacked to death by an unidentified gang Saturday night at Mukteswar Sahi under Sundarpur village in Khurda district. The deceased was Bulu Lenka of Haripur village near Nuagarh.
According to locals, Lenka as usual returned home after work in the evening. A while later, two unidentified men barged into Lenka’s house. Before family members could wake up, the two attacked Lenka with a sharp-edged weapon and fled the place.
Hearing the screams, neighbours too rushed to the spot and alerted the police. However, Lenka died before the cops arrived. The body was sent for autopsy and a probe has been initiated.
Locals suspect it to be the fallout of an old rivalry.
