Bargarh: The body of the retired teacher who had been missing since Friday was recovered from water near Girsul River bridge on Bardol–Deogaon road Sunday afternoon.
The deceased teacher, identified as Jalandhar Kalet (70), a resident of School Pada near Cement Nagar under Bhatli block had gone to the main canal to take a bath Friday morning. While enjoying his bath, he slipped and was swept away in the current.
One day after Kalet going missing, a youth, identified as Omprakash Bhoi (22) of Talipada village in the district went missing in the same canal Saturday.
According to a source, Omprakash along with his cousin had gone to the canal to take bath. The source said that Omprakash was swept away in the current. His body was spotted in the main canal near Gudesera Sunday morning.
Since the incidents of two persons being swept away in Bargarh main canal in two consecutive days, local people have been in a state of grief.
