Bhubaneswar, June 10: The Project Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure (CCI) lauded the progress made in implementation of big investment projects.
The group led by additional secretary of Cabinet Secretariat in Prime Minister’s Office Arun Goel Friday reviewed 32 mega projects with investments across sectors like roads, railways, steel, mines and power at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Padhi here.
“There has been substantial progress in implementation of the projects. The state machinery has acted proactively and resolved the issues raised by the project implementing agencies. I am satisfied with the progress made in the state,” Goel told reporters after the meeting.
However, there is some delay in providing compensation to the evicted families, he said, adding, “The joint meetings are being organised to expedite the projects further.”
“Today we have reviewed the infrastructure based investment projects. Around 32 projects of railway, national highways, water pipeline, coal block development, coal transportation corridor and power sectors were discussed and the bottlenecks were resolved,” Padhi elaborated.
The issues relating to rehabilitation, award of compensation, forest clearance, evacuation of encroachment from acquired land, forest clearance, environmental clearances, nod for clearing permission, DGPS survey and compensatory afforestation were discussed and resolved, sources said.
After reviewing ground situation of individual projects, Padhi set milestones and timelines for various phases in each project. He advised the National Highway Authority of India (NHA) officials to complete the DPR and project estimate of the flyover at Khandagiri and Info Valley II soon since the chairman of NHAI had wanted the ‘go-ahead’ signal for the projects.
He also directed the NHAI officials and engineers to keep all roads in motorable condition before the onset of monsoon. In its first meeting Friday morning, the railway and NH projects were reviewed while in the second session the progress of coal and power projects were discussed.
