Boy stabbed to death for cycle: minor killer, mother held

Sambalpur: Police Saturday arrested the boy who knifed another boy Tushar Rawat (13) to death Friday. The assailant’s mother Nrupa Bag (40) was also taken into custody.

The incident took place as Tushar was going to his uncle’s
Lassi stall from his house on a bicycle in the evening. He had a minor scuffle with the accused boy as his bicycle handle grazed the elbow of the latter while negotiating the crowded Bimal Hota lane in Budharaja area. Out of rage, the acused boy brought a knife from his home and stabbed Tushar on his chest. A profusely bleeding Tushar was taken to the district headquarters hospital where doctors had declared him dead.

Though a case (No 147/2018 u/s 302 and 34 IPC) was registered at Ainthapali police station that very night, the main culprit and his mother were found absconding at that time.

Police clarified that Nrupa Bag was present at the spot during the assault and alleged that the woman had encouraged her son to fight that ended with murder of Tushar.

Meanwhile, Nrupa was forwarded to judicial custody here after arrest and her juvenile son has been sent to the reform home in Rourkela. Tushar’s body has been taken to his home village Satraji in Chandouli district of Uttar Pradesh for cremation after it was handed over to his uncle Rakesh Rawat following post-mortem Saturday.
