Puri: Police Thursday foiled a drug peddlers’ attempt to deceive authorities after they seized a car with a ‘Govt of India’ sticker and seized brown sugar from it.
Three persons– Deba Prasad Mishra, Sheikh Karimullah and Sheikh Anu — from Bhubaneswar have been arrested in this connection.
According to a source, the accused trio was heading towards Bhubaneswar from Puri carrying the contraband in the vehicle. Acting on a tip-off, Puri Sadar police intercepted the car near Malatipatapur bus terminus.
The cops seized 40 gram brown sugar from the car.
Police sources said that the peddlers used to procure the drug from Balasore and sell it in Puri district.
