Bhubaneswar: Girl students outscored boys in the CBSE Class XII examinations results of which were declared Thursday.
Two girls from UP– Hansika Shukla and Karishma Arora – have jointly secured the first position in Class XII CBSE examinations at the national level. Both the girld scored 499 out of 500 marks each.
Hansika is a student of DPS, Meerut Road-Ghaziabad and Karishma is a student of NC Public School (Muzaffarnagar).
Odisha’s Shalini Sheetal of Mother’s Public School, Unit-1, Bhubaneswar, scored 98.2% in the science stream making her the state topper. The school also achieved 100% success in all the streams.
Talking to Orissa POST, Sheetal said, “I’m delighted to be the state topper in the science Stream. I had never taken any tension as my teachers and parents have helped me in my studies,. I knew that in order to achieve my goals I will need to concentrate. My Goal is to be a computer engineer.
Meanwhile, Ishita Patnaik has emerged as the topper in commerce stream by securing 97.2 (from SAI International School, Bhubaneswar). She told this paper, “I did not study for marks, but I learned each and every part of my books. And I’m very happy to be the state topper in my stream. I knew that in order to achieve my goal I need to concentrate on my subject”.
According to CBSE sources, Trivandrum has become the top performing region with a pass percentage of 98.2.
The exams were held at 4,974 centres across India and 78 centres abroad. The CBSE had conducted the annual examination for Class 10 and Class 12 in February-March 2019.
Girls have performed better (9 per cent more) than boys. The pass percentage of girls stood at 88.7 while that of the boys 79.40. In all, 17,693 students scored in excess of 36 per cent and 94,299 above 90 per cent, said a CBSE statement.
