Bahanaga: On the plea of drinking water, a youth tried to snatch a chain from a woman at Daradia under Bahanaga block in Balasore. However, the accused was caught and thrashed by people Friday.
According to reports, Jaydev Pradhan of Triranga village along with two others approached Bijay Laxmi in her house near NH-16 to give them water.
As the woman handed out a glass of water to Jaydev, the latter snatched the gold chain of the woman and fled the spot. At that time, two others were waiting a few yards away.
Bijay Laxmi raised an alarm. Locals swung into action. Jaydev could not get on the bike and started running in the farmland.
Locals caught hold of him and thrashed him black and blue before handing him over to Khantapada police.
