Cuttack, Jan 8: The Sixth Cuttack Mahotsav ended on a high note with some notable performances by artistes Thursday.
The last day of the Mahotsav saw performances by Ileana Citaristi’s Art Vision (Bhubaneswar) performing an Odissi group dance. Yukie Sato from Japan too performed Odissi and enthralled the audience with her deft moves. According to Saswat Mishra, a resident of Link Road and an avid art connoisseur, the Cuttack Mahotsav exceeded his expectations.
“It is the last day of the Mahotsav and I am definitely going to miss the performances which I relished everyday for a week,” Mishra said. He added that the Mahotsav should be given more publicity as people in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack would love to attend such events. “It is a great platform for new artistes. I wish it receives more publicity next year,” he said.
The Cuttack Mahotsav, in its sixth edition, saw performances by several artistes from abroad. The Kala Vikas Kendra auditorium, where the Mahotsav was held, was jam-packed with audience.
“The best thing about the festival this year was that the artistes received tremendous encouragement from the audience,” said Monalisa Mohapatra, a resident of Badambadi and a trained Odissi dancer. She hopes to participate in the festival next year. “I hope to perform at the Mahotsav next year. Just watching the performances as part of the audience was a great learning experience,” she said.
