Bhadrak: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the tragic death of 12-year-old Soumyaranjan Raut of Anaharapur village in Bhadrak district, who was crushed under a DJ truck that overturned during the Rath Yatra celebrations.
The incident occurred in Bhagabanpur panchayat under Dhamnagar block when the DJ vehicle lost balance while navigating a damaged canal-side road near Anaharapur market and overturned.
Soumyaranjan, who had gone to witness the chariot procession, was caught beneath the vehicle and fatally injured. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Expressing condolences, Majhi announced a financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the deceased minor’s mother under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Additionally, the government will bear the educational expenses of the victim’s only younger sister, Subilata, currently studying in Class III, providing Rs 4,000 per month under the Batsalya Yojana until she turns 18. An additional Rs 25,000 in cash was provided from the district Red Cross fund. District Collector Dilip Routrai directed the immediate release of assistance.
