Cuttack: Swetapadma Dalai of Bhubaneswar emerged champion in two categories in the 25th YGTTA All Orissa Open Table Tennis Championships at the Sachin Tendulkar Indoor Hall in Barabarti Stadium here Monday. She won the sub-junior girls’ singles and cadet girls’ singles events.
In the sub-junior singles final she thrashed citymate Nandini Biswal 4-0 to take top honours. Earlier in the semifinals Swetapadma had beaten Sushree Patnaik of Khurda 4-2 while Nandini had thrashed Sikriti Bhagat of Cuttack 4-0.
In the cadet girls’ singles final played earlier in the day, Swetapadma had beaten Sania Mishra of Khurda 3-0 to emerge victorious.
Ananya Basak representing Khurda district, and the daughter for former national champion Arup Basak triumphed in the junior girls’ category beating Yoshita Jamula 4-0. In the first semifinal Ananya had triumphed over Sikriti Bhagat of Cuttack 4-1 while in the second Yoshita had prevailed over Baishakhi Bal of Bhubaneswar 4-0.
