Telkoi: Even as rains continue to lash various parts of Keonjhar district, earth and stones have started caving in on a defile at Karmangi Ghat under tribal-dominated Telkoi block.
Locals have expressed their apprehension that they would face commuting problems if the defile is not restored immediately.
If earth continues to cave in on the hilly track, communication to Krusnapur, Patakhali, Kudabila, Ranibeda and Jhatkipasi villages will be completely disrupted.
People of seven remote hilly villages are dependent on the defile to go to Krushnapur primary health centre and the panchayat headquarters.
The 7-km road connects Krushnapur with Sinduria via Karmangi. The road is being built by the rural development department since 2016-17. However, it has not been completed as yet.
Sarpanch Ranjita Nayak and scores of villagers demanded that the department should complete the road work before the onset of monsoon.
After receiving complaints from villagers, sub-divisional officer Tapan Kumar Behera has directed the contractor concerned to finish the road work as soon as possible, it was learnt.
