BHUBANESWAR: A solo art exhibition of contemporary paintings of B Binita Kumari titled Utkarsh opened at Lalit Kala Akademy here Tuesday. She tried to exhibit her excellence, which is also the meaning of Utkarsh.
This is her fourth solo exhibition where more than 80 paintings on dreams and social issues of life faced by humans are on display.
The artworks have varied themes such as village life, nature, depression, eternal love, fear, and still life among others. Binita has used water colors, charcoal, pencil and pen to portray her inner feelings and thoughts in the form of contemporary art.
Explaining her art, Binita said that she tried to capture as many aspects of human life in her paintings as possible. In her work titled Depression she showed a girl lying with sadness as well as a feather. These two elements represent gloom in one’s life (girl) and dreams (feather).
In another painting titled Time, the artist showcased a life cycle where an old tree with the face of man was portrayed waiting for the arrival of his time to leave the place. In Tradition, visitors can see the traditions of the human community and the life and relation between male and female in Eternal Love.
The art exhibition was inaugurated by Ramakrishna Vedala, Regional Secretary of Lalit Kala Akademy, Gyana Hota, Odia poet and Laxmikanta Mohapatra, Principal of BK College of Art and Craft. The exhibition will continue till October 7.
Binita had done solo exhibitions at Konark Festival twice and won Konark Kala Samman from Odisha Tourism Department.
