Bhawanipatna: A fiftyfive-year-old farmer died of sunstroke while harvesting paddy in his farm at Nandagaon village under Dharmagarh block in Kalahandi district Tuesday. He was Jagannath Nag, 55.
Nag was at the farm along with some labourers. Due to excess heat, he fell unconscious. The workers rushed him to the local hospital, but he died before he could be admitted to a hospital. Local sarpanch Biranchi Narayan Bani informed Dharmagarh tehsildar.
On the orders of tehsildar, Boden RI Rudra Prasad Sahu and Dharmagarh additional tehsildar Chinmayee reached the village and sent the body for autopsy. The sarpanch provided Rs 2,000 to the family from the Harishchandra Yojana.
