Dhamnagar: Seven families were rendered homeless after a massive fire broke out at Patuli village under Dhamnagar block in Bhadrak district late Monday night.
The incident occurred while the villagers were asleep after dinner. Fire from an unknown source broke out and soon engulfed 12 houses.
Valuables worth lakhs of rupees including household items, electronic gadgets, important documents and other things were reduced to ashes in the fire. Luckily, no one was injured in the fire as everyone woke up after hearing the noise after the blaze and ran to save their lives.
As per reports, the fire broke out in a house and soon spread to the adjoining houses within minutes in the congested locality.
Villagers tried to extinguish the blaze, but in vain. Later, they alerted the fire tender team. However, by the time fire tenders reached the spot, the entire houses had been reduced to ashes, informed sources.
Meanwhile, the exact reason behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained. An investigation is currently underway.
