Fog disrupts flight, train schedules

Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Many Bhubaneswar-bound flights and trains continued to be delayed in view of the dense fog enveloping New Delhi while cold wave conditions intensified in the country’s northern parts.
National carrier AI 878 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar flight got delayed by over two-and-a-half hours and landed at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here at 11.30am instead of its schedule arrival at 9am and took off for New Delhi at 12pm. Air India’s other flight from Mumbai, however, reached Bhubaneswar as per the schedule.
Low cost carrier IndiGo’s 6E 259 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar service got delayed by 30 minutes and landed at BPIA at 6.50pm instead of scheduled 6.25pm. It then took off for New Delhi after half an hour from the city. The New Delhi-Bhubaneswar 6E 253, however, reached the city on time.
GoAir’s New Delhi-Bhubaneswar (G8 163) flight was delayed by 40 minutes and reached BPIA at 7.33pm instead of 6.55pm Tuesday.
Meanwhile, East Coast Railway’s (ECoR) premium train New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express (22812) was running over nine-and-a-half hours behind the schedule due to foggy weather in Delhi.
Similarly, Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani service (22823) was also delayed by six hours and 25 minutes and left the city at 3.40 pm Tuesday instead of its schedule departure 9.15 am.
Meanwhile, passengers travelling in New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Purushottam express (12802) were harried a lot as the train was running 15 hours behind the scheduled.
Similarly, Nandankanan express (12816) was delayed by 11 hours 29 minutes and expected to reach city 10.19pm instead of schedule arrival of 10.25am.
