Kendrapara: The police here arrested notorious criminal Seikh Lala following an encounter near Alabanka under Sadar police limits Wednesday morning.
Acting on a tip off, the police held a raid and intercepted him between Haladia and Alabanka areas in the wee hours.
“When Lala saw the police, he opened fire at them. The cops fired back and injured him. He received a bullet injury on his leg and has been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack,” a police official said.
More than 15 cases are pending against Lala in several districts including Jajpur and Kendrapara, police said.
