Berhampur: In a bid to enhance success rate in matriculation exams, Ganjam District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange has launched a comprehensive programme, titled ‘DREAM’ (Drive for Result Enhancement in Annual Matriculation Examination). This has been done to improve performance of students in government high schools of the district.
The BEOs of the district have set 20-T formula to execute the programme in which all headmasters of government schools were informed about the schedule.
Notably, the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, has changed the exam pattern by abolishing OMR sheet and multiple choice question patterns in HSC examination.
Expressing concern over the changed pattern of questions, the Collector instructed the headmasters to follow 20-T formula and put special focus on students with different achievement levels. The students need to be well acquainted with the question pattern, stated Kulange.
Under the 20-T formula, a special teaching schedule has been prepared for the students, in which the schools will be opened Sundays and other holidays. The students have to face ‘Common Tests’ of two subjects every week Monday and Thursday.
As per the guidelines of 20-T formula many schools in the district have started taking special care of the matriculation students. Some schools are having extra classes Sundays. Classes are also being conducted on public holidays including those during Durga Puja.
The Collector said every school should take these steps to enhance the results and create interest of students in studies. The road map of the mission DREAM was prepared to generate curiosity among the students.
Before exams, common tests will be arranged for the students. The first common test in the schools in the district commence October 21.
Model question banks will be prepared subject and chapter-wise at the schools focusing on high, low and moderate achievers in the district and questions will be sent to all schools in the district through e-mail.
