Guardians refuse to send back their wards to hostel; school authorities to hold meeting with guardians
Keonjhar: Fear of ‘ghost’ has gripped the minds of students of Bayapandadhar residential government school under Bansapal block in Keonjhar district.
Over 100 students had left the school after a girl student behaved unusually Thursday. The girl was suspected to have been ‘possessed’.
Reports said the students have not returned to the hostel as yet while the school authorities are worried over the development.
Headmaster Maguni Charan Nayak said only 12 students are in the hostel at present. “There is no problem at all here. We have to hold a meeting of guardians Tuesday to convince them,” he added.
Meanwhile, many guardians have made it clear that they will not allow their wards to the hostel as there is ‘threat to their lives from the ghost’.
However, the school authorities are hopeful that the situation will soon become normal.
Reports said 206 students study in the school and reside in the hostel. Thursday, a girl student behaved unusually leaving other students scared.
The girl was admitted to the district headquarters hospital Thursday. She behaved in a similar manner at the hospital too. Guardians were also panicked and believed that something was wrong in the school for which the girl student behaved bizarrely.
Tension prevailed on the school premises Friday when guardians took their wards with them home. Suakati police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Prasanti Kar, a lady teacher who is in charge of the hostel, said that for fear of ghosts, guardians had taken away their wards. “Efforts are on to convince the guardians and bring back students to the school,” she added.
